New Safe Lock - Safeguarding Personnel and Production
– Helps to create a safer, more streamlined working environment
Press release Hillerstorp 9th of January 2017, 10:30 CET
Creating a safe workplace is not only about preventing injury to employees but also about safeguarding production processes. Troax has updated its long established range of Safe Locks in both design and function, offering easier assembly, easier use and increased operator safety as a result.
Troax is a world leader in machine safety in the form of mesh machine guarding systems, and the company is focussed on creating solutions that increase safety for people, property and processes. The new safety lock, Troax Safe Lock, is part of this development, providing new opportunities to achieve a safer working environment whilst keeping production running.
The Troax Safe Lock is both a mechanical and an electronic lock designed to accompany a variety of electronic switches. It is based on the principle that the current to the machine in the cell is interrupted when the door is opened, thereby switching the machine off. The Safe Lock protects the actuator and ensures that it moves to the correct position when the door is closed and locked again.
"There are different safety levels from Performance Level d to Performance Level e, and the type of switch selected determines which safety level the Safe Lock will achieve. The choice of switch is up to the customer based on the outcome of his risk assessment" says Josephine Granell, product manager at Troax.
Safety to the smallest detail
The improvements to the Troax Safe Lock means a couple of changes for the end user which will ultimately provide them with increased safety performance, easier assembly and ease of use. Installation has been simplified, using just two bolts in the panel frame; the Safe Lock should also be secured with a blind rivet to minimise the risk of manipulation, and the screws have also been replaced by Torx with pin security screws.
"A further illustration of the new product development is the larger back plate which prevents the possibility from locking oneself inside a cell. It has also been supplemented with an easy grip handle that makes it easier to open larger and heavier doors," Josephine Granell concludes.
