People think they can use a car battery to power their caravan rather than caravan batteries or leisure batteries. If you don’t use a caravan battery or a leisure battery, the batteries will burn out much quicker than leisure batterys.
In the wake of the recession and with the price of airfares increasing stats have shown that Brits are shunning foreign travel to exotic climes, and instead are opting for a traditional British holiday- caravanning!
The figures released by the domestic holiday park operator Haven Holidays have shown that there was a 50% increase in the bookings for spring breaks compared to the same time last year. Summer bookings have also increased by 15%, with an astounding 75% increase in the number of people enquiring about buying a caravan.
However, one area people often neglect when purchasing a caravan is the need for buying specially designed caravan batteries. Lots of people believe that they can simply use a car battery in the place of a caravan battery, however these two batteries are designed for different purposes.
If you do use a car battery in the place of a special leisure battery it will not hold its charge as long. This is because car batteries are designed to give out a significant amount of power in a short amount of time (when you start the engine up), and then be quickly recharged.
Even though using a car battery may seem like a cheaper option, in the long run it will cost you more money to keep replacing the battery. It will also cost you your time too, so using leisure batterys from the outset is a more convenient and effective long term solution for powering your caravan.
