News Release BRITS VOTE FOOD OVER ROMANCE IN HAPPINESS PURSUIT
Toasted Bagels in bed, a Sunday roast with the family and mum’s bacon sandwich have been voted as being some of our top sources of happiness, but romance appears to be coming second fiddle to enjoying our favourite food with family and friends.
With Valentine’s day around the corner, it seems that many of us would rather be tantalising our own taste buds rather than hearing those three special words from a partner, according to the Happiness Poll carried out by Udi’s Gluten Free food. The survey, which asked 1,500 people to reveal what happiness means to them, revealed that more than half of us (51%) tuck into our favourite food for happiness, followed by 30% who find their joyous moments with their family and 16% quoting special times with their partner.
Gluten-free fans resounded at the joy they get from being able to eat their favourite foods without discomfort, something which many coeliacs haven’t been able to do since being diagnosed. Freshly toasted and buttered bagels were the most popular food they’ve missed, according to the survey.
Susan Stacey, who participated in the Udi’s poll said: “Being able to eat Udi’s gluten-free foods really is such a big deal to me. To be able to have the taste, without the fear of gluten making me seriously ill really has changed my life. Especially being able to eat such yummy bagels in the past three months.”
Simon Hazlett, managing director of Udi’s, said: “We know how important it is to people to be able to enjoy the foods they love and this survey is testament to that. Food is clearly a number one priority and brings so much happiness to people’s lives.
”Our expanding range of gluten-free products means that people don’t have to miss out on their favourites anymore. We hope everyone enjoys a special Valentine’s Day treating themselves to the foods they love whether it’s with their partner or simply for their own personal enjoyment.”
Udi’s has recently launched into Tesco with its range of gluten-free foods including freshly baked gluten-free bagels in three delicious flavours, soft brown and white sandwich bread, classic white rolls, tasty muffins, toaster pastries, ancient grain crisps, granola and fruity breakfast bars.
Other happy moments revealed in Udi’s Happiness Poll included sharing a smile with someone, a beautiful sunrise and long walks with the dog.
