BeA Fastening Systems, the manufacturer of fastening technology, tools and consumables, has announced its plans for the UK Concrete Show 2016.

The business - which specialises in the provision of solutions for the industrial and construction sectors - will use its stand (Stand L5) to showcase a new innovation able to help manufacturers of precast concrete to reduce their costs and boost their productivity.

Known as BeA Casttec, the new product was officially launched last year at the UK Concrete Show 2015. It has since gone on to be adopted by some of precast concrete’s biggest and best-known names.

Simon Carruthers, business development manager at BeA, explains: “BeA Casttec offers an exciting alternative to magnets, drill and bolts, welding and other traditional methods of fixing structural/architectural inserts and articles to precast concrete forms.

“Unlike these methods, BeA Casttec is non-destructive, saving the time and labour costs of repairing moulds between use. It also makes it quicker to fix inserts and articles, not to mention easier to remove them after use.”

An adhesive based system, BeA Casttec utilises advanced hot-melt glue technology. It is applied simply, accurately and without the need for primers using a choice of robust, high output BeA glue guns.

Articles can then be pressed to the form and the high strength, high grab adhesive sets almost instantly. The resultant bond is strong enough to easily withstand the pouring and vibrators used during mould filling.

After the concrete section has set and been removed, structural/architectural inserts and articles can be knocked off using a mallet or similar tool. Any remaining adhesive residue can also be easily removed using a scraper.

Simon Carruthers concludes: “BeA has a track record of fastening expertise spanning more than a century and, thanks to the reliability of our products and services, has become the preferred fastening partner for businesses looking to reduce downtime and increase production volumes.

“BeA Casttec draws on that experience and technical heritage. Since its launch, the product’s effectiveness and genuine commercial advantages have gained favour with a number of high profile precast concrete manufacturers. We’re looking forward to building on that success at the UK Concrete Show 2016.”
