UK drum teachers are being invited to attend an once-in-a-lifetime Advanced Drum Teacher Seminar with Yamaha Drums and one of the most influential British drummers of his generation.

Steve White has been performing clinics and master classes throughout his career and is currently specialist drum teacher for Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and also teaches students at Goldsmith’s College, London. He remains a member of the visiting Faculty to the Universities of Southampton and Newcastle and has previously lectured at BIMM Institute and the University of Salford. His ‘Summer Drum Academy’ with George Frederick, now entering its 16th year is the longest running and most successful summer teaching camp for drummers in the country.

Steve White has remained at the pinnacle of his profession for over 30 years, since turning professional at age 17, and has played with such legendary artists Paul Weller, The Who, Ian Dury, La Roux and Jon Lord, and currently plays drums in the highly acclaimed ‘Family Silver’.

Steve is visiting six UK locations with Yamaha Drums, hosted by Yamaha Dealer Partners. The Advanced Drum Teacher Seminar Tour will combine intensive playing and discussion about drums, the art of teaching drums and the music business in general.

Drum teachers are now invited to apply for a place at one of these exclusive seminar days in Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Bournemouth, by contacting gavin.thomas@music.yamaha.com . Closing date 13th May 2016.

A maximum of ONLY 10 PLACES are available per location on a first come first served basis, for which Yamaha Drums is offering drum teachers a £50 contribution towards the £100 cost, plus a Drums Goody Bag. Those attending will be required to bring a practice pad and sticks and can expect a highly intensive and inspirational experience.

Choosing Yamaha Drums for their “phenomenal sound” and describing them as beautifully made and a joy to play”, Steve White has entered into a groundbreaking and far-reaching plan with Yamaha Drums to reach out to existing and aspiring drummers, and drum teachers.

Steve White states, “I am really excited about my first full countrywide Teacher Seminar Tour with Yamaha. We offered this at Yamaha HQ last year for 20 drum teachers from Yamaha’s Music School network and the enthusiasm and response was overwhelming. What can be expected? - A hands-on day of interactive playing, discussion and demonstration of techniques and innovations in drumming to aid self-improvement as a player. We will also discuss the wider issues of setting up as a successful teacher in the music business of 2016. Topics to be covered will range from hand technique to ideas for developing profile and insights into a successful career in modern music. This is not for beginners, but serious drummers who mean business."
