Comedian Al Murray will be giving a free music lesson at London’s world famous Chappell of Bond Street music store in Wardour Street on Saturday 31stMarch to kickstart the first ever, ‘National Learn to Play Day’ organised by Music for All, the charity of the UK musical instrument industry.

Britain's most famous and favourite Pub Landlord, who also happens to be a dynamo on the Drum Kit will be in-store at Chappells from 11am until midday to welcome music makers and offer a free drum lesson. Visitors can pre-book to watch or take part in Al’s session or lessons in guitar and keyboards from Chappells tutors. Chappells’ experienced staff will be on hand throughout the day to help visitors try instruments and get started with a host of special offers.

Statistics show there are 15 million people in the UK that either want to play an instrument or used to play one. The Day is designed to welcome people into music shops around the country and to inspire them to get playing. People are often surprised to discover that they ARE musical and simply need a musical “experience” to get them inspired to start playing.

Nigel Hill, Store Manager at Chappells told us, “This is a great initiative to introduce people to the fun they can have making music and what could be more fun than to meet and have your first music lesson with Al Murray! We look forward to welcoming visitors to Chappells on Saturday 31stMarch and helping them take their first musical steps.“

Paul McManus, Chief Executive of Music For All commenting on the event said, “Music for All knows how much music can change and enrich people's lives. We are hosting the annual Learn to Play Day to allow as many people as possible to experience the wonderful world of making music".

The charity is also proud to have partnered for the event with the Musicians’ Union, Arts Council England’s Take it away scheme, MusicTeachers.co.uk and Musicradar.com
