About Chappell of Bond Street:
Chappell of Bond Street, which is now also Yamaha's flagship UK store was founded in 1811 by Samuel Chappell. Two years later, The Philharmonic Society was formed in conjunction with Chappell. This group was dedicated to the promotion of music throughout the capital. As the 2011 recital series shows the current business remains true to the vision of the founder.
Chappell of Bond Street is steeped in rich musical history. In 1819, Beethoven wrote "Chappell is now one of the best publishers" whilst Charles Dickens said " I do believe that such people as the Chappells are very rarely to be found in human affairs". Over the years, many more accolades and awards followed from prominent musicians and industry bodies.
The store is now famous throughout the world and renowned for exceptional customer service. It is acknowledged for its stock of one of the world's most comprehensive collections of printed music and Yamaha music instruments.
In 2006, Chappell relocated from Bond Street to their historic Grade 2 listed Wardour Street premises in the heart of Soho. Current showrooms extend to three floors of inspiring retail space including the beautiful piano hall and a dedicated recital room.
