When Yamaha introduced the N3 and N2 AvantGrand 'Hybrid' pianos in 2009 they immediately caught the imagination of world class artists and the luxury market thanks to the unique way in which the instruments combined real piano actions with ground-breaking sound design circuitry.

Pianists of the stature of Stephen Hough, Artur Pizarro and Julian Joseph subsequently praised AvantGrand thanks to it's exceptional sound quality, and now having proved the concept Yamaha proudly unveil the new affordable AvantGrand N1. With a price tag of just over £5,000 the unique AvantGrand hybrid piano is set to enter the mainstream consumer market.

The N1 is a true hybrid piano with a traditional piano action complete with wooden keys, hammers and boasts a pioneering new ' Spatial Acoustic Sampling' technology , which, when combined with optimum placement of the 6 loudspeakers delivers supremely accurate sound.

As with the N3 and N2 models the new 'affordable' N1 delivers the most accurate replication of a traditional grand piano throughout the tonal and dynamic range. The sound is truly exceptional, warm rich and equally powerful from pianissimo to fortissimo. The instrument will appeal to serious players on a budget with concert grand aspirations. This lower priced model will also appeal to music colleges, conservatoires and live music venues seeking highly capable instruments where space it as at premium.

This new model also features a range of sounds and an integral digital recorder.

Yamaha's Richard Ashby commented " The AvantGrand is a new type of piano , designed to provide a high quality instrument that works brilliantly in an essentially acoustic environment. The live and educational applications of the N1 instrument are also huge thanks to it's great price."
