ASTRAZENECA LICENSES GENOMICA'S PHARMACOGENOMICS SOFTWARE Boulder, Colorado, June 14 - Genomica Corporation, a leading pharmacogenomics software company developing tools to facilitate gene discovery and drug development, today announced that it has licensed its pharmacogenomics software, Discovery Manager(TM) to AstraZeneca R&D Molndal of Sweden. ''AstraZeneca R&D Molndal's licensing of Discovery Manager allows them to enhance their multi-national drug discovery efforts by managing and analyzing genetic data. We are very excited by this vote of confidence in our software suite,'' said Dr. Thomas G. Marr, president and chief scientist of Genomica. Discovery Manager offers extensive visualization and scientific analysis tools, project management and a comprehensive database of genetic information. The common user interface facilitates user access to proprietary tools, public domain tools, and the latest analysis tools from Genomica, all at the click of a mouse. The software is unique in that it brings comprehensive, integrated bioinformatics and pharmacogenomics tools to the scientist's desktop for the first time, enabling modeling of the complex relationships among sets of genetic information. Discovery Manager handles information in every aspect of gene discovery, from clinical to epidemiology to genetic analysis and molecular biology. This differs from other systems, which focus on only one portion of gene discovery, typically sequence analysis. Genomica's software is used in the gene discovery process to develop custom drug applications and accelerate time to market for new drugs. The Genomica software supports a range of research activities and provides data that can be accessed and utilised by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The company was established in 1996 by Thomas G. Marr, Ph.D., president and chief scientist of Genomica, to commercialize the tools he and his team developed at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York.
