Tel: 01628 890 000 8 March 1999 XEROX INTRODUCES THREE NEW INDUSTRY LEADING PRODUCTS TO STRENGTHEN ITS PRESENCE IN RETAIL Commitment to Small Office/Home Office Market Stronger Than Ever Xerox Corporation today introduced three new desktop products for the small office/home office (SOHO) customer, which will boost its presence in the retail marketplace. The new sheet-fed multifunction devices, the WorkCentre 385, Xerox’ first laser all-in-one device, and WorkCentre 480cx, the first colour printing/colour scanning all-in-one device, feature printers that are up to 30 per cent faster than the competition. The new digital copier/printer, the WorkCentre XD155df, continues Xerox’ transition to digital technology across its entire personal copier product line. “The SOHO market continues to grow, and we are responding to the needs of those home users and small businesses with improved product performance and functionality,” said Ged Thompson, European Marketing Director Xerox Channels Group. “We’re providing the features and flexibility our customers demand which have traditionally only been available at ‘big business’ prices. We provide laser-like text and the versatility of vivid colour quality at competitive pricing.” The WorkCentre 385 features an 8 ppm, 600 x 600dpi laser printer, copier, scanner and PC fax. The WorkCentre 480cx operates as an 8 ppm black and 4 ppm colour inkjet printer, colour scanner, copier and PC fax. Both printers are up to 30 per cent faster than the competition, and the WorkCentre 480cx also has the highest print resolution, 1200 x 1200 dpi, of any product in its class. /more followsÖ Both the WorkCentre 385 and WorkCentre 480cx are designed with the flexibility to allow users to fax and copy “right out of the box”, without a connection to a computer. In addition, both machines are designed to perform more than one task at a time, such as print and fax, or print and copy. The WorkCentre 385 is expected to sell for US$799, while the WorkCentre 480cx has an estimated street price of US$499. Priced at US$1299, the WorkCentre XD155df features no-compromise copying at a robust 15 cpm and laser printing at 8 ppm. In addition, automatic two-sided copying, previously only available on machines costing three times as much, comes as a standard feature - saving time, money and space for the small office user. Compatibility and Versatility The WorkCentre 385, WorkCentre 480cx and WorkCentre XD155df operate in Windows 3.1x, Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0 environments. Product Availability The WorkCentre 385 will be available from May; the WorkCentre 480cx following in July. The WorkCentre XD155df will be available from US$1299.
