TyreSafe is starting 2013 as it means to go on, with the addition of a new member.

Giti Tire, which commenced operations in the UK in 1993 and manufactures the brands GT Radial, Primewell, Runway and Dextero, becomes the latest tyre manufacturer to join the not-for-profit organisation and help raise awareness about the dangers associated with illegal and defective tyres.

Richard Lyons, Managing Director –Europe for GiTi Tire, said: “We are proud to be joining TyreSafe, it is an important move which will jointly help both parties further educate motorists on the importance of regular tyre care and maintenance.

“We have a long standing commitment to the safety of our customers and the quality of our products, and our membership of TyreSafe is further demonstration of this.”

GiTi Tire joins following a record-breaking year for TyreSafe which saw the group organise a number of safety campaign targeting motorcyclists, fleets as well as its high-profile activities around the hidden dangers of part-worn tyres.

“We’re delighted to welcome GiTi Tire on board as a key member to help promote our cause,” comments Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “The support of our members is invaluable in helping us reach and educate an ever-increasing number of road users. GiTi’s enthusiasm will undoubtedly aid our campaigns which I hope will once again reach record levels in 2013.”

The New Year is already set to be a busy one for TyreSafe and its members with a number of key projects and campaigns already planned. Promoting the importance of tyre safety to young drivers will be a major focus for 2013. April will once again see TyreSafe target motorcyclists as many start take to the road for the first in the year. Meanwhile, the industry’s main annual safety awareness campaign, Tyre Safety Month, will return in October.
