Driver’s north of the border will now have even greater access to a wide range of tyre safety advice and information after McConechy’s Tyre Services, one of Scotland’s oldest and largest independent garage chains, has become the latest tyre retailer to join the safety organisation TyreSafe.

Furthermore, TyreSafe’s safety messages will also be spread even further afield as McConechy’s also has a five branches operating across Yorkshire under the Gordon’s Tyres banner.

“With an established presence across the whole of Scotland, we’re delighted to welcome on board McConechy’s as our latest member,” comments Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “The weather conditions in Scotland can make driving particularly challenging so it’s important that drivers in the region fully understand their tyre maintenance responsibilities. With McConechy’s support, I’m confident we can improve awareness of this important issue.”

Established in 1957, McConechy’s has more than 50 branches across Scotland and will utilise its membership of TyreSafe to help advise customers on the many important aspects of regular tyre care and maintenance. As well as supporting TyreSafe’s various campaigns, the company will also make a range of advice materials available in all of its branches and via its website.

As well as offering its customers complimentary tyre safety checks at any time, McConechy’s also offers MOT’s, exhaust and other vehicle repair services.

“We are delighted to join TyreSafe and its other members in helping to raise awareness about the importance of correct tyre care,” explains Donald Carmichael, Managing Director of McConechy’s Tyre Service. “With the ongoing squeeze on household budgets, many drivers are now running their tyres much longer than is either safe or legal so it is important that we help them understand the safety risks they are taking. By joining TyreSafe we believe we will be able to do this in a much more compelling manner.”

As well as tyre retailers and manufacturers, TyreSafe’s membership now spans many areas of the automotive industry from insurers to car manufacturers. Many councils, police forces and road safety partnerships are now also supporters utilising TyreSafe’s campaign materials for local initiatives.
