Madison Hubbell and Keiffer Hubbell Announce End of Partnership
Madison to continue skating career with Zach Donohue
Colorado Springs, Colo. (5/12/11) - Madison Hubbell and Keiffer Hubbell, the brother-and-sister ice dancing team that won the 2008 U.S. junior title, announced today they have ended their 10-year on-ice partnership.
“We wish to thank all our friends and fans for years of support,” the Hubbells said. “We extend a special thanks to our coaches, Pasquale Camerlengo, Angelika Krylova, Elizabeth Swallow, Natalia Annenko-Deller and Britta Ottoboni, and to everyone at the Detroit Skating Club.”
The team began its competitive career in 2002, winning U.S. titles at the juvenile (2003), intermediate (2004) and junior (2008) levels. They captured three gold medals in the International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series and qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in 2006 and 2008, winning the gold in ’06 and the silver in ‘08. The two-time U.S. pewter medalists (2009, ’11) reached the podium at the 2010 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, where they took the bronze.
Madison will continue her ice dancing career with Zach Donohue. A native of Madison, Conn., Donohue was the 2010 U.S. junior bronze medalist with Piper Gilles. Last season, he placed 11th at the U.S. Championships with Alissandra Aronow.
“It has been hard to end my career with Keiffer,” Madison said, “But I am thankful to have found a new partner so quickly. Zach and I have a lot of work to do before the season starts, and I find myself reenergized and excited for the new direction my career will take.”
The team will train in Detroit under Camerlengo and his staff.
Keiffer is exploring his options, both on and off the ice.
“I love Madison and the journey we have taken together,” he said. “I am now excited about all the possibilities the future brings.”
