U.S. Figure Skating Announces Hosts for 2013 Qualifying Event Season

U.S. Figure Skating
announced today the host cities for the 2013 regional and sectional
championships, which will take place in the fall of 2012.

The top four skaters
in the ladies and men’s events at each of the nine regional championships will
qualify for one of three sectional championships. The sectional championships
are the only qualifying phase for pairs and ice dancing.

At all five competitive
levels (senior, junior, novice, intermediate, juvenile), the top four finishers
in each discipline at the sectional championships earn a berth to the 2013 U.S.
Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 18–27, 2013, in Omaha, Neb.

U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States as recognized by the United States
Olympic Committee and the International Skating Union.
U.S. Figure Skating is comprised of more than 680 member clubs, collegiate clubs, and school-affiliated clubs and more than 1,000 registered Basic Skills skating schools representing approximately 180,000 members. U.S. Figure Skating is charged with the development of the sport on all levels within the United States  including athletes, officials, sanctioning of events and exhibitions, and establishing
the rules and guidelines by which the sport is governed.
