According to Computer Weekly, the demand for graduates in the telecommunications sector continues to grow, the last two quarters saw increases of at least three per cent

Manchester, UK - This month we saw four bright graduates become the latest management recruits to be placed at Manchester based telecommunications provider, Unicom.

The graduates are from the North West of England and have successfully completed the 12-month intensive graduate management programme offered by Unicom.

The programme was launched in 2007 to attract some of the best graduates on the market, and has welcomed over 30 new graduates to the business. The graduates’ skills are developed on the programme and Unicom welcomes the fresh perspectives they bring to the business.

This year, the business saw three graduates from the University of Manchester and one from the University of Sussex take part in the scheme. The graduates experienced first-hand the workings of the business, including: provisioning, customer services, retentions, escalations, compliance, management information, credit control and administration.

Sophie Donnellan, from Southport, graduated from the University of Manchester and is now the Premier Accounts Manager. She will be leading a new team at the call centre, managing premium accounts and clients.

Tamsin Millard, from the Wirral, graduated from the University of Manchester; Joseph Willetts, from Chester, graduated from the University of Sussex, they’re both holding the title of Project Development Executive. The position enables both Tamsin and Joseph to develop new products and services, conducting research and contacting suppliers as well as looking to make improvements to existing internal processes.

Nathan Sargent, from Wigan, who also graduated from the University of Manchester, is the new Project Manager for Unicom. He will be working alongside the Project Management Team, and responsible for scoping, managing and successfully delivering business projects in accordance with the company programme.

Chris Earle, CEO of Unicom commented on the news: “Many congratulations and well done to all the graduates. They stood out during her application process, where we interviewed over 60 candidates from over 350 applications.

“We’ve seen them progress through the scheme and we’re very pleased to welcome them to the Unicom family.

“Unicom is a rapidly growing company and we’re always on the lookout for keen individuals to take advantage of the opportunity to become Unicom’s managers of the future.”

For the graduate scheme 2014/15, five more new graduates have recently started training to be the new Unicom managers of tomorrow.

About Unicom Graduate Management Programme

The Graduate Management Programme was originally launched in January 2007 and has been invaluable to the company. The programme offers graduates an unrivalled insight into the workings of the business and is an incredible opportunity to develop a wide range of skills.

It is a full-time, permanent position, beginning with a 12 month programme to gain experience with each of the key departments of Unicom. This will provide the graduates with the opportunity to gain new skills and develop existing ones whist obtaining a comprehensive understanding of how the company operates. As well as working in departments, graduates are also given assignments throughout the year.
