Manchester, UK - Manchester based telecommunication company, Unicom officially launched their internal rewards scheme last week enabling staff to save £1,000’s per annum across both household and luxury items.

The launch of the scheme was in direct response to a recent survey of 300 staff. The company wanted to highlight the need for staff to feel valued and rewarded at work. Bonuses, commission and incentives topped the list of benefits which staff felt made Unicom a place where people wanted to work.

The scheme saw Unicom partnering with the Gourmet Society in order to offer the Gourmet Card, which offers discounts at restaurants, cinemas and hotels, to staff at a discount of 75%.  Staff have also been given access to the new Universal Rewards Scheme website which enables them to earn cashback and discounts across 1,000 household brands including items purchased from three of the supermarkets ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, as well as major high-street stores and online retailers including Lastminute.com and ASOS.com.

Unicom employees can save up to 10 per cent on their household shopping by text, phone or online and also purchase discounted vouchers or reloadable cards to be used in-store. The Universal Rewards Scheme website is optimised for mobile phone users, which means staff can save money on the go, whilst the GPS function on the phone can help the users to identify any offers nearby.

To start saving, colleagues can register for free at www.universalrewardsscheme.co.uk. To celebrate the launch of the scheme, the telecommunication company gave away an Xbox One gaming console to one lucky employee who signed up on the day.

Mark Draper, Project Development Manager said; “My team has been working on the introduction of staff benefits for some time, we’re really pleased that now we’ve launched them staff have reacted so positively to both the Gourmet Card and the Universal Reward Scheme website.  These benefit staff at all levels of the business and with a bit of smart shopping we will each easily save £1,000 per year, I’ve already saved almost £300 when booking my summer holiday!”

Staff have made the most of the scheme with the launch coinciding with the summer holidays. Travel has proved to be the most popular area for savings with 47% of the current staff taking advantage of this, closely followed by 34% of staff utilising the scheme to make savings on entertainment and days out.
