Unilabs - York Bioanalytical Solutions, YBS, appoints Mohammed Abrar as Method Development Manager
- Method development specialist brings more than 20 years of experience within the drug development industry to ensure Unilabs YBS’ position as one of the most significant independent supplier of bioanalysis for NCEs and NBEs as well as biomarkers and sample management in Europe.
Unilabs YBS are pleased to announce that Mohammed Abrar has joined the company as Method Development Manager for LCMS/MS methods. With more than 20 years of method development experience within the drug development industry Mr. Abrar will lead the method development within Unilabs YBS in their York laboratory.
Mr. Abrar joins YBS from Covance Laboratories where he served as Principal Method Development Specialist. To ensure a co-ordinated “cross-departmental” approach to development and method problem-solving Mr. Abrar liaised with all DMPK groups carrying out method development work. He was also involved in developing, modifying and validating methodology for non-routine analysis in compliance with appropriate company standards and regulatory guidelines. His experience also includes the development of new strategies in the areas of laboratory automation and the analysis of NBEs as well as the implementation of UPLC and sample preparation strategies.

Due to Mr. Abrar’s expertise in the field of bioanalysis he is involved with the Drug Metabolism Discussion Group, having been invited to Tutor at the “Advanced Methods for Bioanalysis and Metabolism” course, which runs every two years. He specialises and lectures on HILIC, UPLC, analysis of peptides and method development strategies. The course is open to all the pharmaceutical industry members and is recognised as a very important training tool for young scientists.
