Hertfordshire Dietitian Goes Global
University of Hertfordshire dietician and British Dietetic Association (BDA) member, Jane McClinchy, is going global next month by attending the International Congress of Dietetics in Sydney, Australia on 5 – 8 September.
The 16thInternational Congress of Dietetics takes place every four years and is the global event for the dietetic and nutrition global community. The theme of this congress is LEAP: Leadership, Evidence and Advancing Practice (LEAP). This will be addressed through an exciting programme of lectures by high profile international speakers, interactive workshops, seminars and a wide range of submitted papers.
Jane, who received a £2,200 grant from the BDA to attend the event, will be presenting at the conference about her papers as follows:
- Should the UK define separate BMI categories for older people?
- A multidisciplinary approach to providing nutritional advice; the views and experiences of allied health professionals and dieticians.
- Evaluating hospital food service; nutritional standards and staff views.
- Lay and practitioner perspectives and experiences of obesity.
Jane, who is a Principle Lecturer in Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire, said: “It is an absolute honour to be flying the flag for UK dietitians in Australia. I have always been passionate about my work and I am equally passionate about doing whatever I can to represent the dietetic profession at all levels. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the BDA for recognising my work and supporting my attendance at the conference.”
Helen Davidson, Honorary Chairman of the BDA, added: “It will be a great honour for Jane to represent, not only the BDA, but the whole of the UK dietetic profession at the 16thInternational Congress of Dietetics in Sydney. I want to ensure what we are doing is recognised and embraced by the global dietetic profession.”
