Madeleine Flanagan, from the University of Hertfordshire’s Postgraduate Medical School, has been selected to join the new Kerecis corporate scientific advisory board of recognised experts in wound care and surgical implants.

A principal lecturer in skin integrity and dermatology, Madeleine has been a skin specialist for over twenty-five years with a particular interest in chronic skin wounds. Her contribution to this newly-formed advisory board will see her work alongside Kerecis, the emerging tissue-regeneration company, with the aim of translating scientific information about their wound products into language easily understood by clinicians.

Madeleine Flanagan, principal lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, said: “I am delighted to join this new advisory board where I can help Kerecis review progress in their research and clinical development with respect to chronic skin wounds.”

Joining Madeleine on the advisory board are Dr Robert S Kirsner (chair) from the University of Miami, Dr David Margolis (University of Pennsylvania) and Dr Magnus S Agren (University of Copenhagen).

Gudmundur Fertram Sigurjonsson, Executive Director of Kerecis Limited based in Iceland, said: “We are delighted to have access to the expertise of such respected experts. We look forward to their assistance and insights, as we continue our research and clinical development.”

Madeleine was a founding member and past chairperson of the Wound Healing Society (UK) and is programme director for the MSc Skin Integrity Skills and the MSc Dermatology Skills and Treatment at the University’s Postgraduate Medical School. She is also the editor of the recently published book “Wound Healing and Skin Integrity: Principles and Practice” and author of more than one-hundred peer-reviewed articles on chronic wound management.
