New UT Arlington bachelor’s degree combines architecture, engineering to meet industry demand

Architectural engineeringBeginning this fall, The University of Texas at Arlington will offer the first architectural engineering bachelor’s degree program in North Texas to prepare a new generation of students for careers in design, construction and engineering-related fields. The program will be based on 120 semester credit hours and incorporates courses in civil engineering, architecture, studio design and engineering design. UT Arlington, The Dallas Morning News create joint architecture professor-critic position

Long-term position available to begin fall 2012 semesterThe University of Texas at Arlington and The Dallas Morning News  are partnering in an innovative joint appointment of a School of Architecture faculty member who also will serve as architecture critic for the news organization. The initial appointment will be for three years, renewable and split evenly between the News and UT Arlington. Arlington Urban Design Center collaboration earns statewide award

The Arlington Urban Design Center has won the prestigious 2011 Current Planning Award from the American Planning Association Texas Chapter. Students from The University of Texas at Arlington’s Schools of Urban and Public Affairs and School of Architecture have partnered with City of Arlington professionals in the center to speed along design projects, civic space planning, beautification projects and redevelopment opportunities.
