Camanio Care receives Giraff order from Hörby Municipality
The Swedish municipality Hörby are now investing into a e-health solution in order to improve the quality of care. In connection with this Camanio Care received an order from Hörby municipality of two Giraff Telepresence care robots. Hörby municipality is thereby the first Swedish municipality to invest in Giraff that Camanio Care acquired in April 2017.
Giraff is a robotic communication system that enables virtual visits, both for care and social visits with primarily elderly and persons with disabilities. Through the telepresence care robot Giraff, homecare services, clinical professionals and relatives can interact with the resident by maneuvering the robot around the rooms and talk through a display via a video system.
The solution consists of a height adjustable video screen on a long neck and at the base it is equipped with a computer. The robot can drive on wheels that adapts to thresholds and carpets and is also possible to use both during daylight and nighttime.
- Hörby Municipality are investing into new technologies to enable our citizens an improved safety, independence and participation in their care. We are now investing in a collaboration with Camanio Care where we can be the very first municipality in Sweden to be able to offer the Giraff as a complement to regular homecare visits for those who wishes to live at home and needs regular attendance, says Eva Klang Vänerklint, Director of Social care, Hörby municipality.
- Giraff brings safety into everyday life and at the same time improves communication and relations with relatives is strengthened. Relatives not living in the same city can stay in touch and e.g join for lunch and be present much easier. Homecare staff can get access to telepresence visits virtually, which can reduce travel time and significant cost savings and less inconvenience for the individual, says Catharina Borgenstierna, CEO Camanio Care.
The order which also includes other products from Camanio care is worth 200 kSEK and is the start of a close collaboration with Hörby municipality.
- It will be very exciting to try out the robot in Hörby. We have many elderly who lives out on the countryside and feels isolated sometime, they can definitely have a better and safer living, says Eva Klang Vänerklint, Director of Social care, Hörby municipality.
Several other municipalities are now considering to invest in the telepresence robot Giraff due to the high value recognized for the citizens. Within the area of care robotics there are also large possibilities for further development, Giraff is the platform in a major EU-project, MoveCare, targeting to develop the future Artificial Intelligence solutions within the care sector.
