    UPM Energy invests in an innovative ultracapacitor power system to enable more renewable energy within the electrical grid

    (UPM, Helsinki, 13 September 2021 at 13:00 EEST) – UPM Energy is investing in an ultracapacitor at its Ontojoki hydropower plants, in Kuhmo, Finland. The ultracapacitor will be the first of its kind to be used in a hydropower system and the investment will enable UPM Energy to deliver more and faster reserves from hydropower plants.     (UPM Energy, Helsinki, 18 May 2020 at 19:15 EET) - UPM Energy and the City of Kajaani have negotiated an agreement, according to which, UPM Energy Oy will sell its 50% share in Kainuun Voima Oy to Kajaanin Energiatuotanto Oy, owned by the City of Kajaani.     UPM takes next step towards 65% CO2 emission reduction goal by 2030

    (UPM, Helsinki, 12 January 2020 at 11:00 EET) UPM has signed a long-term Wind Power Purchase agreement with German wind park development company wpd. The use of renewable wind power for UPM’s paper mills will help reduce CO\2\ emissions by 200,000 tonnes annually as of 2022, representing 5% of UPM’s total CO\2\ emissions.
