PRESS RELEASE 11.3.2016 – Entries to The New Vantaankoski Idea Competition were submitted from several countries. The competition prize is EUR 50,000, while the best entry will get EUR 20,000. The results will be announced on April 21,2016.

The New Vantaankoski Idea Competition ended on February 29, 2016. In addition to Finnish teams, concept entries for a future business campus were sent at least from Canadian and South Korean participants.

– In the competition programme we told that we are seeking different and innovative ideas. The entries submitted by the deadline show that the competition target has been brilliantly discovered, says Jouko Pöyhönen, chairman of the competition jury.

– We have received venturing, brave and skilfully visualised concepts that represent very different points-of-view. In many exciting ways they demonstrate the future of work, occupational wellbeing and how to connect work and everyday life.

The jury starts its work – prizes to be announced on April 21

The competition’s multidisciplinary jury will evaluate the entries during March. As stated in the competition programme, the criteria include innovativeness, suitability to the area and attractiveness, among others. The best entry’s prize is EUR 20,000 and the total prize sum reaches EUR 50,000.

The New Vantaankoski Idea Competition jury includes Director Jouko Pöyhönen, Director Real Estate Ville Jokela, professional board member Anne Korkiakoski, VP Communications and HR Sarita Laras, Managing Director Jan Oker-Blom, Deputy Mayor Hannu Penttilä, Professor Hannu Seristö, Director Marianne Vikkula and the jury’s secretary, Research Manager Maaria Nuutinen.

– The results and prizewinners will be published at Vantaankoski on April 21. Soon after this we will start negotiations about development opportunities with the best entries. Our goal is to create a concept for a future business campus that would be widely applicable over the years, Jouko Pöyhönen concludes.

The winning entries will be displayed in Vantaa and Helsinki during summer and autumn

In the summer, the winning entries will be displayed in the premises of the City of Vantaa, and in the autumn at Sanomatalo’s Mediatori event space in Helsinki. A public voting will also be organised to find the people’s favourite among the winning entries. The places and times of the public display will be confirmed on April 21.
