Valmet's new multilevel measurement enables real-time monitoring of liquor tank levels at evaporator plants
Valmet Oyj's trade press release on June 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. EET
Valmet has introduced a new multilevel measurement solution for measuring liquor tank levels at evaporator plants. A reliable and robust online solution, Valmet Multilevel Measurement, enables real-time monitoring and consequently correctly timed soap skimming in intermediate or weak liquor tanks.
"With Valmet Multilevel Measurement, it is possible to measure soap layer thickness online and start and finish soap skimming at the right time and thus avoid overflowing in the black liquor soap separation process. This all means less disturbance for the process," says Timo Laurila, Business Manager, Recovery Analyzers and Advanced Process Controls, Automation, Valmet.
The density-independent measurement is based on electrical impedance technology (EIT), which allows robust detection of components or phases with differing conductivities. This enables interface detection in a multiphase system, allowing, for example, the identification of liquor-soap, liquor-foam and soap-air interfaces.
Multilevel Measurement is fully integrated with the Valmet Industrial Internet solutions portfolio. Measurement information can be combined with Valmet's advanced process control applications or third-party plant automation systems.
