Capacity and quality in focus when Vida Vislanda invests in a continuous kiln from Valutec
With a new continuous kiln from Valutec, Vida Vislanda increases its drying capacity by 48,000 m3.
“Our previous experiences of working with Valutec have been great. They are a guarantee of quality and their logistics and systems are a good fit for us,” says Karl Lindow, CEO at Vida Vislanda.
At Vida’s sawmill in Vislanda, spruce construction timber is sawed and planed. A large amount of the timber is exported, with the main market being the United Kingdom. Recently, the sawmill has needed to increase capacity and drying has been a major bottleneck. By investing in a continuous kiln, capacity is increased while the quality of the wood is raised.
“That they repeatedly believe in us shows that they are satisfied with our products and deliveries. I see this as a great acknowledgement of our collaboration and we are looking forward to starting this project,” says Robert Larsson CEO, Valutec.
The continuous kiln is an FB type and is equipped with pressure frames and a heat recovery system. It will primarily be used to dry side boards down to a moisture content of 18 per cent and has an annual capacity of approximately 48,000 m3. The kiln is delivered with Valutec’s own control system, Valmatics.
This is the second deal in a relatively short space of time between Valutec and Vida Vislanda. Less than five years ago, the sawmill invested in a continuous kiln of the same type as the one now being delivered.
“It feels reassuring and positive to invest in a kiln and drying controls that are similar to what we already have. We know that these solutions meet our needs very well,” says Lindow.
