Former President and CEO of Vattenfall AB, Lars G. Josefsson, received a severance payment when leaving the company to which he was not entitled to under his employment contract. This should have been reported as a deviation according to state ownership policy.

Lars G. Josefsson, would, according to the contract that was signed, be granted a severance payment equal of 12 months' salary.

The wrongful contract was negotiated by Chairman of the Board Lars Westerberg and signed by Lars Gejrot, Head of Group Function Human Resources.

In early 2011 it was discovered that Lars G. Josefsson's contract should not have been sealed.

Vattenfall has agreed with Lars G. Josefsson that the compensation should be paid back. The entire sum will be repaid before the end of March 2011.

Vattenfall will now considerably tigthen its governance in order to avoid similar situations in the future.
