Comments on the Barsebäck agreement

“We are satisfied with the commercial agreement that has now been reached between the Swedish State, E.ON and Vattenfall,” says Alf Lindfors, Head of Vattenfall Nordic Generation. “We have been reasonably compensated for the generation capacity lost at Barsebäck 2 and for our holdings in Ringhals AB.” “The payments will make it possible to continue running operations at Barsebäck in a safe and efficient way until the time comes to start demolishing the reactors.” “The personnel at Barsebäck Kraft AB have done an excellent job and the shutdown process is going well. Vattenfall has shouldered its responsibilities and several employees have already been given new jobs, at Ringhals for example. All of the employees have a three-year employment guarantee and thus have time to plan their futures.” For information on the content of the agreement between the State, E.ON and Vattenfall, please see the press release from the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
