Estimates say the storm will cost Vattenfall SEK 0.5 billion

Report this content

The severe storm that struck parts of Sweden a week ago will cost Vattenfall around SEK 0.5 billion according to preliminary cost estimates.

More than half of this sum consists of the compensation that will be paid to customers. The rules for compensation under Vattenfall’s power outage guarantee are very comprehensive. The remainder of the sum consists of costs for repair and reinstatement work. By Wednesday morning, practically all of the customers in Vattenfall’s network areas had been reconnected following the damage caused by the storm. Remaining, limited areas where there are still faults will be dealt with during the day. There are also still an unknown number of low-voltage faults that customers report in when other consumers in the area are reconnected. Clearance and repair work is still under way.
