Vattenfall has appointed Per–Olof Waessman to the newly established function as Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO).

Per–Olof Waessman (57) has over 30 years of professional experience in reactor safety and technology issues, nuclear management, operation and maintenance.

During the past five years, Mr Waessman has been Director BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) Engineering, Nuclear Services, at Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB, a Toshiba company.

He has an academic background as Master of Science, Nuclear Engineering, at the Royal University of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

He will take on the new function as from 1 February 2008.

Vattenfall decided to institute a Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO) last November as one of several measures to reinforce Vattenfall’s nuclear safety work. The CNO will report directly to Vattenfall’s President and CEO Lars G Josefsson and he will be the Group’s controller in nuclear safety issues and the Executive Group Management’s nuclear expert.
