Sale of A-train closed The sale by NCC, Vattenfall, Alstom and Mowlem of all of the shares in A- Train to Macquarie Bank was finalized today. A-Banan Projekt AB, the Swedish government's holding company, and the lenders have now approved the sale. Macquarie Bank will take over A- Train and account for the company's future operation. For its 20 per cent interest in A-Train AB, Vattenfall received in total MSEK 80, through both cash payments and loan and guarantee transfers. The closing of the deal marks a further step for Vattenfall in divesting its interest outside the non-core and focussing on energy. A-Train operates Arlanda Express, the express rail service between Stockholm's Central Station and Stockholm's Arlanda Airport. A-Train, which launched its traffic operations in November 1999, employed 180 employees in December 2003. In 2002, Arlanda Express carried approx. 2.4 million passengers.
