The 20th Vattenfall Symposium 2003 Energy companies and social responsibility The Vattenfall Symposium of 2003 will focus on whether companies and institutions should take a greater social responsibility or not, and what role the energy companies should play to influence the social development. Which are the ethical dilemmas? Which demands are made on companies and institutions? How will we be affected as clients, employees and individuals? At this anniversary symposium Vattenfall can present the following prominent keynote speakers, from three continents: Hans Dietrich Genscher -Can look back over a long political career in the Bundestag and as a member of the German Government from the 1970s through until early 1990s, at first as Minister of the interior and then as Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor. He is now, among other things, the President of the German Council on Foreign Relations. Reuel Khoza -Chairman of Eskom (South African energy company), active in many South African companies among others, IBM, Vodacom, Standard Bank. Chairman of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa and World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Oren Lyons - Professor at University of Buffalo and a Native American Chief of the Onodanga tribe (Six Nations). Has discussed global problems and the importance to be in balance with ourselves and with nature with leaders such as Michael Gorbatjov, the Dalai Lama, Al Gore and Göran Persson. Leif Pagrotsky - Minister of Industry and Trade with the central task to create growth for prosperity in Sweden. Also responsible for the Swedish state-owned companies. Has a long political career in Sweden, among other as Director at the Prime Minister's Office, Minister for Trade and Minister for Nordic Cooperation. When?
