Vattenfall appoints a new member of Executive Group Management

Harald von Heyden will be a new member of Vattenfall’s Executive Group Management.

Vattenfall has decided to strengthen the value creation in the wholesale market by appointing Harald von Heyden as responsible for Trading and to take over the group project, Coordination of Generation Management. The head of Business Unit Vattenfall Energy Trading (VET), Stephen Asplin, will report directly to Harald von Heyden. Harald von Heyden has been working within the energy industry for more than ten years. He has been the managing director at Statkraft in Germany and was the founder of the Elektrizitätsgesellschaft Laufenberg Nordic (EGL) and the managing director and Chief Trading Officer of EGL AG. “I am very pleased to have Harald von Heyden as member of our Executive Group Management. He has a strong track-record and an international background that suits a company like Vattenfall well,” says Øystein Løseth, CEO of Vattenfall. Harald von Heyden is 38 years of age. Originally from Germany, he has lived many years in Norway and worked many years in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. He has a masters degree in management studies from university of Cambridge and worked for four years as a McKinsey consultant with focus on the energy industry. “I am impressed by how Vattenfall has come to be one of the leading European energy companies, something I believe is necessary to survive the coming integration of the energy market in northern Europe.
