Vattenfall awarded Polish prizes Vattenfall Poland AB was awarded two important prizes during the month of January. Vattenfall's work in Poland has been widely acclaimed and was recently rewarded with one national and one regional distinction. The first award, "For those, who are changing Polish industry", is a countrywide prize for companies and individuals who contribute to the reform of Poland's industry. The award in category "foreign investor" in the past has gone to companies like General Motors, Toyota and SAP. In 2004 it went to Vattenfall and Fiat. Vattenfall Poland was nominated as "active and reliable investor, setting up new standards in the Polish energy sector and acting with social and environmental accountability". The awarding ceremony took place Wednesday, January 28 in Warsaw. The second award, "Silesian Oscar" is a regional prize for the most active business and social leaders from Silesia. Vattenfall got it for its Upper Silesia Economic Development project, in recognition of this investment's positive impact for society and environment.
