Vattenfall today signed an agreement that makes the company one of the three major partners of the World Childhood Foundation.

Vattenfall will disseminate knowledge and information to its employees and the general public on the needs of vulnerable children and on Childhood and what the organisation does. This co-operation will enable Childhood to continue to develop its work and also give Vattenfall new opportunities to increase exposure of the company. “The co-operation with Childhood is an expression of Vattenfall’s social commitment. We feel that it is important to increase knowledge about the needs of vulnerable children and how these needs can be met,” says Knut Leman, Head of Group Function Communications at Vattenfall. “The brands of both the parties to this agreement will be strengthened by the collaboration, and added value will also be created in both organisations. This commitment will also strengthen our own culture in terms of corporate social responsibility among our 33,000 employees in the Nordic region, Germany and Poland.” “We welcome Vattenfall as one of our most important collaborators and look forward to co-operation marked by a genuine empathy and an active approach to our core issues, which we have already had a foretaste of in the discussions we have had so far,” says Gunilla von Arbin, General Secretary of the World Childhood Foundation. Childhood is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1999 by HRH Queen Silvia of Sweden. The aims of the organisation are to promote every child’s right to a safe and secure childhood and to work for better living conditions for the most vulnerable and exploited children in the world. Information on the collaboration and on Childhood’s projects will be provided on an ongoing basis on the web, in printed material and in advertisements.
