Vattenfall has completed acquisition of HEW shares from E.ON Energie Vattenfall and E.ON Energie yesterday concluded the share transfer agreement concerning Vattenfall's acquisition of 15.4 per cent of the shares, i.e. 14 190 000 shares, in Hamburgische Electricitäts-Werke (HEW). The deal means that Vattenfall is disposing of its shareholdings in Lithuanian Power Company (LPC), the Czech company Vychodoceska Energetika (VCE) and Baltic Cable. Earlier this month, Vattenfall acquired 20 064 010 shares in HEW, corresponding to 21.8 per cent of the total capital, from Sydkraft AB. Following this deal with E.ON Energie, Vattenfall's holding in HEW now amounts to 71.3 per cent. HEW is the fifth largest power group in Germany with approximately one million customers, sales of over SEK 20 billion and almost 7 000 employees. The agreement between Vattenfall and E.ON Energie represents the final implementation of the preliminary agreement presented earlier. Vattenfall is working with the US energy group Mirant and the German companies HEW, Bewag, Veag and Laubag on building a so-called Fourth Force on the German energy market.
