Vattenfall presents its fifth electricity market report

Report this content

For the fifth consecutive year, Vattenfall presents its views on the electricity markets in Germany, Poland and the Nordic region in a detailed report. The report provides a broad description of the main features of how these markets work and places them into a European context.

Questions frequently asked have been used as a basis for selecting which issues to include in the report. The questions have been summarised into six chapters, each discussing different aspects of market development:

· Is competition and liberalisation working as intended?
· What factors influence the electricity price?
· How do climate policies influence the electricity markets?
· Will there be enough investments in new capacity?
· How will technological development influence the electricity markets?
· How much of an issue is security of supply?

“Our ambition has been to address the issues from the perspective of a concerned and interested electricity customer, wishing to understand more about the electricity markets”, says Vattenfall’s CEO, Lars G Josefsson. “We believe that our best contribution to building trust in the market is by being open about our beliefs and sharing our knowledge and understanding of the present state of our home markets, the trends on the internal electricity market in Europe and how we view its development. Our hope is that by doing so, we can improve the understanding of the electricity markets in a wider audience and contribute to building a good basis for reasonable expectations.”
