Swedish and English versions of Vattenfall’s Annual Report for 2007 can now be downloaded from Vattenfall’s website.

The Annual Report provides comprehensive information on Vattenfall’s financial results and describes the development of the Group in 2007. It describes Vattenfall’s strategic ambitions, the European energy market, competition and pricing and the development of Vattenfall’s markets in the Nordic region, Germany and Poland. It also contains extensive information on the company’s, organisation, corporate governance and risk management.

In his comments, the President and CEO, Lars G Josefsson, takes up the role of energy in modern society, the demands on Vattenfall as energy provider, Vattenfall’s five strategic ambitions and the Group’s financial position. He particularly emphasizes the climate threat resulting from global warming and Vattenfall’s work with the climate issue and the roads to sustainable energy generation.

Among other things, Vattenfall is conducting very ambitious investments in expansion of wind power. A significant step was taken in late 2007 when the new Lillgrund wind farm in the Oresund Strait began generating electricity.

Mr Josefsson also comments upon nuclear safety, which has been in focus both in Germany and in Sweden in 2007. A comprehensive review of safety issues has resulted in a number of changes to strengthen safety work and to ensure that Vattenfall’s communication activities in the future meet very high standards.

“It is my hope that these strong measures will make it clear that Vattenfall always puts safety first and that the nuclear power plants in which Vattenfall is an owner will lead developments in the area of safety.”

A printed version of the Annual Report will be available on 7 April and can be ordered at www.vattenfall.com
