Vattenfall’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report has been awarded the prize today as Sweden’s best sustainability report 2006. The prize was awarded by FAR SRS, the association of auditors and advisers. The Vattenfall reporting won in the category of ”Best independent sustainability report”.

The prize was handed over during a seminar called “Finforum”, a meeting place for financial managers, financial analysts, auditors and public relations officers, in the presence of the Minister for Financial Markets Mats Odell. Vattenfall Senior Vice President, Communications Knut Leman and Åsa Pettersson who is responsible for the CSR-report received the prize.

The jury justified the award of the prize to Vattenfall as follows:

”Sound reporting that clearly presents the ambitions, activities and results achieved, the latter in a comprehensive GRI-adapted appendix.”

The jury consisted of representatives of the major auditing companies in Sweden: KPMG, Ernst & Young, SET Revisionsbyrå, Öhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte.

The winners were selected on the basis of the same criteria as in the twelve other European countries that, in addition to Sweden, are also members of the European Sustainability Reporting Association (ESRA).

The prize-winning report is the fourth Vattenfall comprehensive sustainability report. The report addresses the most important issues that Vattenfall currently faces with respect to the environment and social responsibility: climate change, production safety, renewable energy, future recruitment challenges, the future of coal and market integration developments.
The information about Vattenfall’s results in the field of sustainability follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, the most commonly used standard for sustainability reporting in the world, used by more than 1,000 companies.
