Vattenfall to build Sweden's largest wind power plant In the autumn, Vattenfall will build an additional wind power plant at Näsudden on southern Gotland. This new plant will be the biggest ever built in Sweden. It will be named Olsvenne 2 after the local property designation. Olsvenne 2 will be the largest wind power plant in Sweden and one of the first in the world in the new size class that several manufacturers are now establishing. The hub height will be 80 metres and the rotor diameter 90 metres. The rated output of the generator will be 3 MW, and it is estimated that the plant will generate 8 GWh of electricity per year. Work on the foundations was completed recently, and the tower will be erected in early November. The plant will be evaluated together with the supplier Vestasvind Svenska AB and the Danish company Vestas. This evaluation will mainly focus on the connection to, and the interaction with, the electricity network. Strict demands will imposed in relation to how the plants acts in connection with network disruptions of various kinds due to the special nature of the network on Gotland. Remote communication will also be closely studied in the course of the evaluation. The wind power plant has been designed so that it could also be located offshore in the future, and special care and attention has been paid to minimising operation and maintenance costs.
