Veg of Lund is now launching its new plant-based drink, DUG®, in the United Kingdom. Initially customers will be able to purchase the unique alternative to animal milk and other plant-based beverages online through Amazon UK.

Sales of Veg of Lund’s new beverage began in Sweden end of May, and as of today, DUG® is also available to British consumers. DUG is an alternative to animal milk and other plant-based drinks and meets consumers’ demand for plant-based foods that are good from a taste, health and climate perspective.

“Britain is one of Veg of Lund’s strategic markets and we already have a strong online presence in the UK through our activities on Facebook and Instagram. With the launch on Amazon UK and through a collaboration with WW Weight Watchers, we reach a large group of consumers online. Nine out of ten Britons shop on Amazon UK and the platform is also an established and strong player in food sales, a position that was strengthened during the corona pandemic. WW (WeightWatchers reimagined) has given DUG good points according to its SmartPoints rating and opened its e-commerce portal for us through its WellnesWins reward scheme. Through this channel, we reach more than 500,000 members”, says Thomas Olander, CEO of Veg of Lund.

“We have a good product that we are proud of. Taste and climate footprint have impressed both consumer and expert panels. Our choice to use potatoes as a base means that we have a super-sustainable drink. Potatoes don’t need much to grow at all, making them a super-sustainable crop compared to others like soybeans, almonds or oats. Not to mention dairy products”, Thomas Olander continues.

DUG has already attracted attention in the international food industry. In this year's edition of the World Food Innovation Awards, DUG was nominated in four classes, was named the winner of one, Best Allergy-Friendly Product, and received a special award in the category Best Plant-Based Beverage. A total of 276 products from 22 countries participated in the international jury-judged competition.

DUG is available in three flavours: Original, Barista and Unsweetened. More information about the climate footprint and which retailers offer DUG can be found on our website, www.dugdrinks.com. Here, Veg of Lund shares compelling information about the different variants, its climate footprint, nutritional profile and unlocks all the genius of our hero ingredient: the potato.
