For many years Veidekke has given its employees the opportunity to buy shares in the company. This time 790 employees accepted the offer and subscribed for a total of 378,353 shares, which is an over-subscription of 26.1 per cent. This implies that subscriptions for more than 400 shares will be reduced.
The rights issue for Veidekke employees was carried out in the period 14 - 24 November. 300,000 shares had been allocated in this offer to be sold at a price of NOK 44.00, which is approximately 20 per cent lower than the average market price in the period prior to the share issue. Between 50 and 1,000 shares could be subscribed for.

"Of the 790 employees who subscribed for shares, 179 were first-time shareholders. I am very pleased at the great interest among our employees," says Terje R. Venold, President and CEO.

The great interest for Veidekke's share purchase scheme has also been confirmed in a survey done on the Internet in connection with the share offer. 80 per cent of those who responded were very positive.

"Through this survey we wanted to get honest feedback from the employees in order to ensure that the share purchase scheme is in line with expectations," says Mr. Venold who is very satisfied with the results.

The survey shows that the share purchase scheme has become part of Veidekke's culture and that accepting the offer is a signal of belonging and loyalty to the company. Most respondents regard the share scheme as a sensible way of saving money. As many as 94 per cent consider the purchase of Veidekke shares a long-term investment and do not think much of obtaining a short-term gain. Two out of three employees would buy more shares if given the opportunity. For some employees their personal financial situation is the main reason why they will not buy shares.
