A joint venture between Veidekke and Selmer Skanska
Builds big in Ski for Olav Thon Group

A joint venture between Veidekke and Selmer Skanska has been awarded the contract for the construction of Quarters 13 and 14 of the Ski Centre by Olav Thon Group. The contract price is NOK 408.5 million. Construction starts in December 200, and will be completed in 26 months.

The contract includes construction of a hotel, a cinema centre and a library, in addition to a shopping centre, parking lot and approximately 60 flats, which will be put up for sale. The new project will be connected to the existing Ski Storsenter (shopping centre) through a pedestrian bridge.

This is the third time Veidekke and Selmer Skanska have formed a joint venture and bid on a contract in this region. This contract was won in competition with several contracting companies.

Mr. Magnar Huse, Regional Manager at Veidekke, emphasises that the choice of a joint venture was a consequence of the size of the project and a total assessment of the available resources of the two companies.

"At present, both companies have a high level of activity in the region. We will therefore be able to serve the customer better and ensure an optimum solution through a 50/50 joint venture," says Mr. Huse.

"For the Thon Group, this is a big and important project," says Mr. Øystein Trøseid, Executive Vice President of the Olav Thon Group. "It is therefore especially reassuring that the two largest contractors in Norway have joined forces in order to complete the project."
