The City of Oslo's Road and Transport Authority has awarded the contract for the substructure for Stage 2 of the new 'ring line' on Oslo's T-bane (metro) to Veidekke Entreprenør AS. The contract price is approximately NOK 245 million, excluding VAT.
The contract includes engineering and construction work from the new metro station at Storo to Carl Berners Plass in Oslo, where the new line will link up with the existing network. The total length, including work above ground, is 1.7 km.

The work on the new line includes for example two bridges, a new metro station at Sinsen, and the construction of a 1.2 km long tunnel from there to Carl Berners Plass. Track-laying etc. is not included in the contract.

"Veidekke had the contract for the first stage of this development, and we are pleased that we are now going to take part in the completion of the line after winning the last contract as well," says Veidekke's Regional Manager, Mr. Harald Sangnes.

The construction work will start on 1 June 2003 and will be completed by 15 June 2005. According to plans, the new line will be opened to traffic some time in autumn 2006.
