KLP Eiendom Trondheim A/S has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract for Phase 3 of the Teknobyen research centre in No. 2, Prof. Broch Street. This is an office building totalling about 16,400 sq.m. and the contract price is approximately MNOK 215 excl. VAT.

Veidekke has previously built the Teknobyen Innovation Centre, which was completed in 2002, and has also been responsible for the interior refurbishing of the old tram sheds, in No. 6, Prof. Broch Street.

The office building has a total area of 16,400 sq.m. on six floors, plus a basement totalling 3,900 sq.m. The work will start in the middle of October with the demolition of a building on the site and the replacement of some contaminated soil.

The construction work itself will commence in December and the office building will be ready in the summer of 2009. The main structure will be made of concrete cast on site, and for a time the contract will provide work for up to fifty of Veidekke's 120 skilled workers in Trondheim.

"This is an important and very interesting contract for Veidekke in Trondheim. For the past few years we have mainly been engaged in residential building and it therefore suits us very well to have a contract for a large office building contract again," says District Manager Ståle Brovold.
