Veidekke ASA has been awarded the contract for the construction of Oslo Atrium. Developer is Rom Eiendomsutvikling. The contract value is NOK 445 million, and represents the largest office-building contract Veidekke has ever been awarded.

The contract is a turn-key contract for the construction of Oslo Atrium in the vicinity of the Oslo Central Station. The building was originally meant to be the new head office for NSB (the Norwegian State Railway), but the offices will now be rented out instead.

The office building is located close to the Oslo Central Station and the Airport Express Train Terminal. The building is an important addition to the development of Bjørvika, a new quarter in Oslo.

The office building totals 28,000 m2 and includes offices with all facilities. Oslo Atrium is mainly based on an open plan solution. The building is founded partly on an existing parking house and partly on steel pillars down to rock.

The work will start on 17 September this year, and the building will be handed over on 17 September 2003. The contract value is NOK 445 million. At its height, about 300 people will be working on the building site, including architects, consultants, sub-contractors and Veidekke's own employees.
