New contracts in Bergen worth NOK 56 million

Veidekke's branch office in Bergen has signed four new contracts for a total amount of NOK 56 million. The scope of the new contracts is varied; construction of a church, two housing projects and a sports centre.
The largest contract is for the construction of the Sælen Church, close to the sports stadium at Varden in Fyllingsdalen. Veidekke submitted the lowest tender for the turn-key project at a price of NOK 25.4 million. The client is Bergen Kirkelige Fellesråd (The Bergen Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs). The construction will begin in August 2000 and will be completed on 31 October 2001.


Veidekke is also building a new sports centre for Studentsamskipnaden (the Students' Association) in Bergen. The centre is situated in the vicinity of Norges Handelshøyskole (the College of Business Administration and Economics). This is a negotiated contract at a contract price of NOK 17.8 million.


The new sports centre is an Astron hall with steel structures. The hall includes facilities for activities such as handball, squash, aerobics, spinning and climbing, as well as a fitness room. The foundation work will start in August 2000 and will be completed in approximately 12 months' time.


Housing
Veidekke submitted the lowest bid for the construction of two housing projects in Bergen. The largest contract is for the foundation and the concrete shell of a terraced block of 18 flats. The contract price is NOK 7.5 million. Work will start in September 2000 and will be completed by April 2001. The client is Erstad & Lekven Utbygging AS.


The last contract is for concrete structures for two blocks of flats in Laksevåg. The contract price is NOK 5.2 million. Work will start in August 2000 and will be completed by December 2000. The client is Bybo AS.
