Veidekke Stockholm AB has signed a new contract in connection with the development of Botniabanen, a railway line along the coast from Ångermanälven to Umeå. Veidekke's contract has a value of approximately SEK 192 million. The project owner is Botniabanan AB.
The contract includes construction of a 7 km long railway line, a 600 m long railway tunnel through Hällberget and a 400 m long tunnel in Finnborg, parts of which will run below highway E4. In addition, a railway bridge across Åtesjövägen and two road bridges across the railway line south of Sörbölevägen and Krossvägen are included in the contract.

Veidekke is also going to build a steel aqueduct across the railway leading water from the stream Myranbäcken. A section of highway E4 will be altered during the construction of the Finnborg tunnel, and farther up from the tunnel the road will be reinforced and extended.

Construction start is scheduled for the beginning of March 2004. The contract will be completed by the end of December 2005.

"This is the second contract we have won in connection with the development of this railway project," says Managing Director Göran P. Larson of Veidekke Stockholm AB.

"With this contract in addition to a couple of new smaller building contracts and the orders we already have on hand, our order book for 2004 is most satisfactory," he adds.
