Veidekke's Swedish subsidiary, Veidekke Construction AB, Vecon, in Gothenburg has signed a contract with Vägverket Region Väst (Swedish Public Roads Administration) for the construction of a new road south of Borås. The contract price is approximately SEK 129 million.
The contract is for a new section (leg 2) of Road 27 between Kråkered and Aplared, south of Borås. The construction work includes a 6 km three-lane road and eight bridges, one of which is a steel bridge. The other seven are concrete bridges, slab bridges and culverts.

"We now have six contracts under construction for the Public Roads Administration. The largest is for the construction which is in progress on the E6. This new contract helps to secure employment for our skilled workers," says Managing Director Ivan Alexandersson, Vecon.

The contract will be carried out in co-operation with Veidekke's Norwegian construction operations. The work will start in August 2003 and  be completed by 15 September 2005.
