Veidekke is building a new distribution warehouse for Hakon Eiendom AS at the Lønningen industrial park near Flesland in Bergen. This is a total project with a contract price of just above NOK 122 million. The contract includes the foundation work, which has already started. Veidekke is also building 22 row-housing units at Soltun in Fana. The price for this project is NOK 21 million.

Equivalent to two football fields
The storeroom area of the new distribution warehouse is 11,800 m2, consisting of a cold storage room of 1,100 m2 and a refrigeration room of 5,600 m2. In addition to this is an office area of 1,680 m2. The load bearing walls consist of concrete and steel pillars, while the roof consists of steel lattice girders. The length of the building is the equivalent of two football fields.

"This is not just a warehouse, but also a large technical plant. Both the inside and outside of the walls will consist of cooler bricks to keep the temperature inside the building stable, regardless of the temperature outdoors," say Ms. Irene Nordvik, Project Manager at Veidekke in Bergen.

The foundation works started in August, the concrete works starts in the middle of November and the building will be completed towards the end of December 2002.

"This warehouse is an important part of Hakon's distribution net in Hordaland, says Mr. Tore Vik, Project Manager in Profier AS on behalf of Hakon Eiendom AS.
