Skaun lower secondary school: New contract for Veidekke

Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with Skaun municipality in Sør-Trøndelag to build the new Skaun lower secondary school, which will become the new focal point of the municipality. The contract was won in a price and design competition with a subsequent collaboration phase, and the design and build contract is valued at NOK 233 million excluding VAT

The new Skaun lower secondary school will have 6 parallel classes, with the possibility for expansion to 7 parallel classes to cater for future growth in the municipality. Rooms and spaces have been designed with multiple uses in mind, which will provide flexibility for different teaching methods. The school building will also have features such as a sports hall, library, culture hall with space for 220 spectators and premises for the culture school and voluntary associations and organizations. Additionally, there will be spacious and well-equipped outdoor areas that may freely be used by the municipality's residents outside of school hours.

The actual construction of the school starts in February, with completion scheduled for the beginning of October 2019. After that Veidekke will demolish the current lower secondary school, and complete the part of the outdoor area that currently comprises the existing school and associated areas by June 2020.
